Fall Leaf Garland

I took a trip to "The Dollar Tree" yesterday. What a fun adventure that can be! I only spent 2 bucks on this trip. $1 on rubber bands for Lilly's pig tails and $1 on these fabulous leaf doilies (see photo at left). I had never seen leaf shaped doilies before. I love the color and the intricate cut-out designs. I immediately had the idea to thread ribbon through the top cut-outs and make a garland. As soon as I got home I dug through my ribbon stash and found a burnt orange color satin ribbon. I threaded them on and used clothes pens to attach them to my kitchen window. I love how it turned out. It is so pretty and simple. Of course I will take it down until it is officially fall but I had to take a picture first. Hope you like. Now head on down to your local Dollar Tree and pick some up then string 'em up across mirrors, doorways, windows, or between bedposts. Can't wait until fall. Can you?

  1. Hi Molly. I just wanted to stop in and say hello. I work with Doug at the firm and when Laura W. told me that you had a blog... well I jut had to drop by and see what you're up to. We met once when Lilly was a baby, but I doubt you remember that encounter. At any rate, I'm going to take a tour of your blog, but I can already tell that it's wonderful!! Christy

  2. I love those doilies! MawMaw got some at the DT here, and i think that i will have to steal some from her and make a few garlands. We will have to have them for thanksgiving for sure, since we arnt going to Seattle this year. I dont see anything wrong with leaving them up from now until you take all fall down, but this is coming from someone who already has all of his halloween out at both houses. I will be posting a sneak preview of my halloween village soon....

  4. The link below is for those who WANT to get their hand on exactly same leaves shown above AND is not available whereever they looked... I know because I looked in Dollar Tree in DesMoines area just this afternoon and couldn't find anything near to this. That got me to googling. I found other large paper leaves which would work just as great. I look forward playing with these!

  6. Thanks. I just came across this site while searching for some of my items. Google just did an overhaul. I'm thrilled you found the doilies on my site. You've made a beautiful vignette with your leaves.

    Thanks again.
