How rad are these shoes?! I found them at a thrift store recently for $8! I am in love with them...

and THE BOW! Okay, so I don't normally show my panties on my blog but I had to share these. Today I had to do my weekly trip to Walmart. Walmart isn't that fun for me, it's all business. Cleaning stuff, toiletries, etc. you know the boring stuff. Well I was cruising along and happened to pass the lingerie section and that is when I spotted these cuties... I think I have a built in radar for anything pink and lace. I love these made by "fruit of the loom". I love the stripes, I love the floral print, I love the lace and love the price, $7.95 for both!

Spring Sideboard and A New Fashion Obsession

I dressed up my sideboard this morning and thought I would share. I got that lace tablecloth at an antique shop in Mt Dora. I love it! The china is my grandmother's wedding china she just it handed down to me. It is so lovely. I am using it for Easter dinner this year.

I also wanted to share my latest clothing obsession. I found this beautiful top yesterday at Forever 21 for only $19.80! It is one of my all time favorite shirts. I don't usually buy multiples of clothes, but I think I have to buy another one just to have a backup replacement in case one gets a hole or stain. The picture below doesn't give it justice. It really looks like a vintage blouse. I can't wait to wear it to church with some of my favorite floral skirts and some pearls. Have a great weekend! Love, Molly

Tomorrow is the big day! The day that my friend Christie and I are attending the Marie Market Soiree. Last week I posted the shoes that I made to wear to the event. Today I finished Christie's pair and I wanted to share as I promised I would. It was a little challenging at first because Christie wears a size 9 and she doesn't wear heels and she wanted pink shoes! So I searched thrift stores and ebay high and low with no luck so I ended up buying a pair of white ballet flats on clearance at Walmart and painted them pink :) Then I used ribbon, lace, feathers and vintage buttons to embellish them. They were the most fun to create. I think I might have a new shoe embellishing obsession. fabric flower belt

Whew! I'm back. Sorry I have been away so long. Going back to work and getting a toddler ready for preschool has been keeping me busy. I thought I would share something with you that I whipped up last weekend between buying a backpack, finding school shoes, writing lesson plans and cleaning house :)

I had this white shirt from Anthropologie hanging in my closet but I haven't worn it in a while. I actually wore it when I was pregnant. It came with a little thin white belt but I never wore that because of my big belly. I lost the belt so I decided to make a new one and wear the shirt again. I was inspired by the corsage belts at J.Crew. I found the pattern for the flower at Wise Craft. Instead of putting a button in the middle I just drew up the petals and tacked them on the back so the flower was fluffier. I used thin white grosgrain ribbon for the belt and cut it long enough to wrap around twice and tie in a bow. I like that look, it adds layer and interest. Promise it won't be so long before a blog again! Blessings to you all.

Summer Ruffle Blouse Remix

Alexis of My Mama Made It inspired me to do a remix of a long sleeve women's shirt. I headed to the thrift store and found this maternity shirt...no it was an accident and I just liked the print. Don't any of you get any ideas :) I hacked off the sleeves gave it a fitted, more feminine shape, made a coordinating ruffle (you know I have a ruffle obsession) and a skinny belt. I can't wait to wear it! I think this print is so summery. I love the olive, turquoise and orange together. It is such an unusual color combination but it works. This was such a fun project.

Onesie Remix

Lilly had this pink polka dot onesie (her cousin sky handed down to her) that fit her everywhere except the length. It was too short to snap plus snaps aren't the easiest thing when potty training. So I cut off the bottom of the onesie (that I wasn't ready to part with) and attached a gathered skirt I made from $2 a yard Walmart fabric. She won't take the thing off. It's a hit. Also notice she is still wearing her new sandals. That was one of the first things she did this morning, put on her saltwaters.

Ruffle Tank

I got this fabulous idea to add a ruffle to a target tank top from Joy's Hope. I was dying to give it a try so I headed to Target and bought a toddler tank for $3. They have several colors but I loved this turquoise. Then I picked up some fabric from Jo-Ann's came home and... whipped up this ruffly tank in no time flat! I will be making many more of these tanks in the future. p.s. I figured out that in order to get Lilly to pose I just give her a pair of my heels and she goes to town. What a little ham.

More Fashion Remixes

I bought this button down a few years ago for a few bucks at a thrift store. I always wanted to do something to it to spruce it up. I found this lovely butterfly floral print at a little quilt shop and decided to applique some of the designs onto the shirt. I outlined the designs with large running stitches using embroidery thread. I love contrasting and oversized stitches on clothes and decor. I appliqued on the collar and on the bottom left shirt tail. You could use this technique to cover up stains on a favorite shirt that you just can't part with. The possibilities are endless.

I picked up this blue cardigan at Ross for under $10. I had seen a similar embellishment on a shirt at Anthropologie years ago that probably cost like bazillion dollars. I'm not really sure of the exact price because it wasn't on the sale rack and I only look at prices on the sale rack at Anthropologie. I layered yo-yos, vintage lace, fabric leaves cut with pinking shears, and vintage buttons to create a "corsage".

I still have more ideas to come. This is my next project! Can't wait to share it with you when I'm finished. Thrift store men's department here I come!

T-Shirt Redo

I love the idea of taking clothes you already have and remaking them or embellishing them to turn them into a new piece. It is economical, creative, and green. I have been obsessing over all of the ruffles over at jcrew.com. I love all the ebellished t-shirts, but in these economic times it is not always an option to pay $39-$50 for a tee. I started looking around the web for some shirt embellishing ideas. I found this one, this one, and this one. I had a tee shirt that I bought on sale at Old Navy for like $4. I used an old white t-shirt I already had for the ruffle. I sort of combined the techniques I found online and voila! I am pretty happy with the results.
